Face Fit Testing of close fitting Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) is a mandatory requirement; all "masks" do not fit all faces, face fit testing must be used as part of the RPE selection process and then repeated at certain intervals to ensure the device remains effective going forward. If the mask does not fit (seal to the face) then it can not or will not protect the wearer

 

The HSE stipulates that a competent person should undertake face fit testing; we are externally assessed by the BSIF Fit2Fit Scheme; our credentials as a Fit2Fit approved tester (and trainer) can be verified at www.fit2fit.org

We use the very latest TSI Portacount 8048 to perfrom the Quantitative Test - AKA "Ambient Partivle Counting" (APC) method as detailed within HSE INDG479 and the accompanying Fit2Fit Companion (we can also undertake qualitative testing / train the tester). Furthermore, we operate in line with the current HSE guidance detailing how to fit test safely during the Covid pandemic; to be honest, we  exceeed these standarsd when it comes to minimising any possible transmission risk. Our test centre is clean, safe, spacious and all reasonable covid precautions will be taken during your appointment.

Upon arrival to our dedicated fit test centre, you will be greeted, asked to sanitize and briefed on the test process; you will also be given the opportunity to ask any questions about the RPE or process itself. Each test takes just under 10 minutes to complete (588 second to be exact) however we will need time to prepare the mask and brief the candiate on correct donning. 

If needed, and it is advisable, we can also encorporate a more comprehensive user guide to include donning, doffing, pre use checks, cleaning, storage, inspection and maintenence..).

Certification will be issued with a recommended re-test of no longer than 2 yrs or sooner should the face / RPE change; many organisations elect for yearly re-tests.

You will need to book a specific time slot, we run at 30 minute intervals per person, this can be reduced sligly for experienced RPE wearers. The price is only £50 + vat per person / test and any re-tests needed on the day will be undertaken at no additional cost. Discounts can be offered for multiple / group bookings.

To undertake the test we will need...

• Your mask!* (with particulate filtration FFP2 / FFP3 / P3 filter...)
• Any eyewear that you would be wearing in conjunction the RPE.
• Confirmation that you are clinically / medically fit enough to wear RPE.
• To refrain from eating / drinking / smoking / vaping 30 mins prior to test.
• For any male wearers to be FULLY CLEAN SHAVEN where the mask contacts the face, this is non negotiable.
